JaMarcus Russell Sucks!

The Raiders Post

When a chorus of boos rains down upon you from your own fans, it is not a good thing.  I am not sure JaMarcus Russell realizes this or even cares.  This guy is a cancer and needs to be removed.  Not sure how the Raiders can do this with out eating millions, but maybe they can work some crazy magic.

Otherwise I think they should either remove the red jersey and let players get free shots at Russell or convert him to another position and maybe him perform tackle drills all day.

This recent Yahoo Sports article states that Russell passed on the last team meeting to go to Vegas. This guy is a complete ass and worthless as a QB.

Raiders, Russell Lose Important Disvion Game.

The Raiders Post

The Raiders looked all to like the Raiders of recent seasons past as they were beat handily by the Denver Broncos 23-3.

The Broncos ran all over the Raider defense.  Denver had to makes run for around 100 yards each against Oakland.

But more disheartening than our defense’s effort is the fact that JaMarcus Russell cannot throw his way out of a wet paper bag.  Russell might be the worst quarterback ever.  He is definitely the worst starting quarterback in the NFL currently.

I have never rooted so hard to have the second string quarterback come into a game, hell I would rather see McFadden run the wildcat all game at least he would probably be more effective marching the team down the field.

The Raiders will not win games if they cannot sustain drives on offense.  I say bench JaMarcus Russell now and let Bruce Gradkowski or Charlie Frye have a shot at winning a game

Raiders notebook: Cable mulls options without injured Gallery

September 22, 2009 · Posted in Recent Posts · Comment

By Jerry McDonald
Oakland Tribune

While Robert Gallery underwent surgery to repair a broken left fibula that could keep him out four to six weeks, Raiders coach Tom Cable was considering his options the day after a 13-10 win over the Kansas City Chiefs.

“It’s not as easy as just plugging in a new left guard or a new center,” Cable said Monday at his weekly news briefing. “You want to make sure it all jells together. If this was a week issue or something like that, maybe it’s pretty easy, but it’s not. I think you have to look at it as a month issue.”

Gallery has started 34 consecutive games at left guard after he struggled for three seasons as a tackle. He was regarded by Cable as the Raiders’ most consistent offensive lineman last season.

When Gallery left in the fourth quarter, the Raiders moved center Chris Morris to left guard and inserted Samson Satele at center.

Other options, according to Cable, include playing either Khalif Barnes or Erik Pears, both primarily offensive tackles, at left guard. Another option is Paul McQuistan, a three-year veteran inactive for the first two games this season.

In both of those scenarios, Morris, who won the starting center job from Satele in part because of his intelligence and ability to make calls along the offensive line, would remain in the middle.

“I know absolutely nothing,” Morris said in reference to potential lineup moves.

Cable said Gallery’s injury was similar to that of Barnes, who broke his ankle Aug. 5 and could be active as soon as this week.

  • Among the game balls awarded by Cable were to punter Shane Lechler and place-kicker Sebastian Janikowski, who the coach said “put this team on their back and carried us yesterday.”Lechler averaged 56.9 yards on seven punts with a long of 70 yards and a net of 45.9. His first two punts, of 66 and 70 yards, came after Oakland three-and-outs and backed the Chiefs up at the 16 and 21-yard lines.

“That punter of theirs, I don’t know how you punt the ball that far,” Chiefs coach Todd Haley said.

Janikowski continued his mastery of Arrowhead Stadium, kicking field goals of 48 and 54 yards and recording touchbacks on all four of his kickoffs.

Janikowski is 23-for-26 at Arrowhead and has converted all 17 attempts since having one blocked in 2002, his third NFL season. He kicked field goals of 56 yards in 2008 and 54 yards in 2007 at Arrowhead, both games the Raiders won.

Other game balls were awarded to safety Michael Huff (two interceptions), cornerback Nnamdi Asomugha, defensive end Greg Ellis (two sacks) and long snapper Jon Condo.

  • Wide receiver Johnnie Lee Higgins (sprained shoulder) could return this week and resume punt return duties, but Cable said it was unlikely wide receiver Chaz Schilens (broken metacarpal) would be back before next week. … Safety Hiram Eugene has a “lower leg strain” and is questionable this week. If Eugene is healthy, Cable said, he would continue to share snaps at free safety with Huff. … Cable said he wants the offense as a whole to get deeper into the playbook, film and details to upgrade the passing game. Quarterback JaMarcus Russell has completed 35.2 percent of his passes (19-for-54). No other NFL starting quarterback is below 50 percent.

    Raiders Game 1 Analysis

September 16, 2009 · Posted in Recent Posts · Comment

    The Raiders Post

Ok after taking a couple days to cool off and collect myself, after such a close loss. A game in which a bad booth call could have made a huge difference in the outcome of the game, I am ready to provide my analysis.

    The Good

The Raiders run defense was much improved, with the addition of Richard Seymour.  LT ran for only 55 yards after averaging 119 yards against Oakland throughout his career. His back-up Darren Sproles managed only 23 yards on 9 carries for a 2.6 yard average.

The corners and safeties played lights out. They challenged the receivers on every catch and shut down a number of potential big plays.

The offensive line dominated the Chargers defensive line throughout the game; allowing only one sack from a defense that has historically pushed our line around.

Louis Murphy looks like a legitimate down field threat and a solid receiver.

    The Bad

When the game was on the line, the linebackers were playing too soft dropping to far back in coverage and giving away too many yards to the underneath passing game of San Diego.

Darrius Heyward-Bey did not make a single catch in the game.

    The Ugly

JaMarcus Russell has absolutely no touch on the ball. He couldn’t hit a RB in the flat or a receiver on an out pattern if his life depended on it at this point in his career.  He has a cannon arm and can toss it long but has no touch.  The long reception by Murphy was completed because Murphy was able to locate the ball and run under it for the catch.  I would loved to have seen the ball drop right over the receivers right shoulder rather that have the WR have to go after it. Hopefully as the season progresses so will Russell’s accuracy.

    Summary

Before the season started I predicted that the Raiders would go 6 -10 this season.  That was before they acquired Richard Seymour and seeing how he helped instantly improve our run defense.  With the addition of Seymour and barring any major injuries I would bet the Raiders get at least 8 wins and would not be surprised if they broke .500 if they can stay healthy and on track.

Seymour joins Raiders, expects to play Monday night

September 13, 2009 · Posted in Recent Posts · Comment

    Associated Press

Richard Seymour ended his five-day sit out and will join the Oakland Raiders on Saturday, saying he was initially “blindsided” by the trade from the New England Patriots.
Seymour was acquired last Sunday for a 2011 first-round pick but did not report to the Raiders, raising speculation he did not want to join Oakland.

In his first public comments since the deal, Seymour told the Boston Herald on Saturday that he was taken aback when coach Bill Belichick told him of the trade, which is sending him from one of the NFL’s model franchises to the one with the worst record over the last six years.

“First of all, I was blindsided by this whole event,” Seymour told the Herald. “When you get blindsided, you should take a moment to gather your thoughts. I have a lot of personal issues more pressing than football.”

Seymour has four children and is the guardian of a 15-year-old cousin, who had recently joined him in the Boston area. Seymour’s family will return to South Carolina, while he flies to Oakland on Saturday to join his new team.

Seymour said he has been in regular contact with Raiders owner Al Davis and coach Tom Cable. He said he has talked with the Raiders about a possible contract extension or a promise not to be designated the franchise player following the season, but was given no guarantees.

Seymour turns 30 next month and is in the final year of a contract that pays him about $3.7 million this year. Had he not reported, he could have been suspended for the season and had his contract roll over to 2010. “I didn’t demand anything to go there,” he said. “I’m happy to go there, and I told them that. But me and my family have never been separated. This was a difficult transition.”

Seymour has been a stalwart in New England since being drafted sixth overall in 2001. He played on three Super Bowl winners with the Patriots, recording 39 career sacks and being selected to the Pro Bowl for five straight seasons beginning in 2002.

The Raiders were looking to upgrade a run defense that was the worst in the league during the exhibition season and has been the worst over the past six seasons. Since going to the Super Bowl following the 2002 season, Oakland has had the worst run defense in the NFL, allowing 141.7 yards per game on the ground and 122 touchdowns rushing.

Despite his late arrival, Seymour said he plans to be on the field for Oakland’s opener Monday night against San Diego.

“I’ll be the guy on top of the quarterback,” he said.

Cable is expected to address Seymour’s pending arrival after practice Saturday.
