Worst First Day of the Draft Ever?
The Raiders Post
The Raiders day 1 picks were atrocious! Taking WR Darrius Heyward-Bey with the 7th pick is laughable. I understand Al likes speed, but this guy sure seems to drop a lot of balls that he should catch. What good is 4.3 speed if you can’t catch? If Al liked this guy that much he still could have traded back and stocked up on some picks and got Heyward-Bay late in the first and based on the way the draft went maybe even in the second.
As bad as the first round pick was, the Raiders second round pick might possibly be worse. The used the 15th pick in the second round to draft a Safety Mike Mitchell, that most teams and experts had going possible as high as the 5th round though most had him as a 7th round pick or undrafted free agent.
They did only slightly better on day two, the third round pick of DE Matt Shaughnessy and 4th round pick of LB Slade Norris were both reaches as well though not as monumental as day one’s blunders.
The only acceptable picks were the 2 six rounders DE Stryker Sulak and TE Brandon Myers.
Here is to another long season, cheers!
Did the Raiders Redeem Themselves in Round 2?
The Raiders Post
The Raiders trade back in the second round from 8th to 15th and select Michael Mitchell, another disappointment in my opinion. The Raiders are stretching with their picks and leaving much better talent on the board. They are not picking players that will contribute and make an impact. It appears to me that the Raiders are resigned to being a losing team. The Commitment to Excellence has become a commitment to mediocrity. Looks like Oakland will be competing for first in the draft next year instead of first in the division.
With the 7th Pick in the First Round, the Raiders Take…
The Raiders Post
Darrius Heyward-Bey this is a horrible pick. Obviously Al Davis is still pulling to many strings, the Raiders are going to be a losing team for years to come.
Al Davis has become a football idiot! We need a better talent evaluator.
Al Davis needs to step down! This the worst pick I have seen in recent history, take the 4th or 5th best WR with the 7th pick is stupidity at its peak.
I might have to find a new team to root for until Skeletor is gone.
Will the Raiders Trade down?
The Raiders Post
I would like to see the Raiders trade out of the seventh spot and pick up more picks. The likelihood of that happening is probably pretty slim, but I think it would be best for the team. I am not too hot on any of the WRs in the draft. I would like to see the Raiders trade back and pick up a player like Max Unger and then grab the best LB availible. Then grab a WR in the 3rd or 4th round.
With the draft minutes away, we will what happens.
